The Stranglers
Formed in 1974, The Guildford Stranglers (as they were originally called) exhaustively played the London pub circuit before signing with United Artists. Their debut single “(Get A) Grip (On Yourself)”, stalled at number 44 in the UK singles chart. Released on May 21st 1977, “Peaches/Go Buddy Go” would reach number 8, and the corresponding album, “Rattus Norvegicus” would climb to number four in the charts.
